Selangor Lays Squad & Facilities Improvement Plans During The League Break

The Malaysia League 2021 is currently on a short break until July 9 to give way to the national squad to play in the qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup & 2023 Asian Cup in Dubai, UAE. It also paves a better way for Super League teams to start the journey of the AFC Champions League & AFC Cup tournament which will start on June 29.

During this period, Selangor FC Head Coach, Karsten Neitzel had the opportunity to share what Selangor FC’s coaching staff have prepared to ensure that each player is in a fit condition before physical training resumes when the league competition continues.

"The players were given a 17-days leave before physical training resumes. Each player has been given an individual training plan to ensure a good level of fitness is maintained throughout this period,” Karsten explained.

“The rehabilitation process is also important and was made as a part of the training program. With individual training plans designed specifically for each player, we want to achieve the best combination of recovery and fitness process for them.”

Among the fitness programs listed are Steady State Run, Interval Run, Speed & Endurance, Basic Strength Training, Injury Prevention Training, as well as menu suggestions and dietary patterns, suitable to their needs.

According to Karsten, the injured players such as Nik Sharif, Halim Saari, Wan Zack Haikal, Tim Heubach, and Shahrel Fikri will continue to be treated at the FAS Training Center to get a better monitoring and recovery process.

"Let's not forget the players who suffered injuries. They will continue to be treated and monitored by our physiotherapist as well as undergo physical training to get optimal recovery progress, based on the recovery schedule that has been set,” he added.

In another development, the Malaysia Football League (MFL) announced that Malaysia League teams will no longer be allowed to undergo Home Based Training sessions during the MCO (Movement Control Order) and are required to comply with Camp Based Training only after the league organizer, MFL held discussions with KBS (Youth And Sports Ministry), National Sports Council (MSN) and KKM.

Further developments on Camp Based Training (CBT) of Selangor FC will be updated and informed from time to time soon.

Selangor FC appreciates the good effort shown by the coaches in providing individual training to players during the leave period. Hopefully, the Red Giants will continue to face the rest of the 2021 season.

Other than that, there are also ongoing activities such as the maintenance process of Stadium MBPJ field, the enhancement of training facilities at the FAS Training Centre, as well as the construction and completion of the new building is also ongoing at full swing throughout this period. More updates will be announced in the coming weeks.
